Terry Phelan
National Director, Field Player & Team Training Schools

Terry has an international resume that very few people can match. Currently he is the Head Coach of Otago United in New Zealand. He graduated through the Leeds FC Youth Academy at the age of 13. He made is first team debut at 17 for Leeds FC and played 18 times. He transferred from Leeds to Swansea FC and played 45 times from 1986-87. Then he transferred to Wimbledon FC for $105,000 and stayed there for 5 years. With Wimbledon FC he won the 1988 FA Cup by beating the famed Liverpool FC 1-0.
That same year they were runner-up in the Charity Shield. In 1992 Terry transferred to Manchester City for a world record sum for a fullback of $4.2 million and played there for 3 1/2 years. From there he transferred to arch rival Chelsea FC for $1.3 million and stayed there for 2 years and also won the Umbro Cup. Following that he was transferred to Everton FC for $1.3 million and played there for 3 years before moving on to Fulham FC. He stayed at Fulham for two years and won the 1st Division Championship and gained promotion to the English Premiership.

At the conclusion of this season (2003) he came to the United States to join the Charleston Battery of the A-League where he was a teammate with Todd Hoffard. Along with this professional career he has also had extensive international experience. He went from the youth team to the first team for the Republic of Ireland and has played for the first team a total of 42 times. Terry represented the Republic of Ireland in the 1994 World Cup which they were part of the famed "Group of Death." That team beat Italy 1-0 and went through to the second round of the World Cup. He has played in the US Cup in 1992, 1996, and 2000. In 1993 he won the Republic of Ireland Young Player of the Year Award.
 

Todd Hoffard
National Director, Goalkeeper Schools

Todd is currently the Goalkeeper Coach for the NY Red Bulls (MLS).  He enjoyed an 8 year professional career after graduating from Division I powerhouse Hartwick College in 1994. He has been part of the US Soccer Region I ODP Staff and also PA ODP Staff. Most recently he played with the Charleston Battery of the A-League during the 2001 and 2002 seasons where he was a teammate with Terry Phelan. After being drafted by the Harrisburg Heat in the 1994 NPSL draft, he played for them for two seasons before moving on to the Cleveland Crunch and Philadelphia Kixx. Todd also played a season with the Albany (NY) Alleycats and three seasons with Reading Rage of the USL D3 League.

While playing, Todd was also coaching at the college level. In 1996 he was an assistant coach with Elizabethtown College before moving to the Division I level in 1998 with the St. Bonaventure University Women's program. Todd spent two years with the Bonnies and helped them achieve the school's first Atlantic 10 Tournament berth as well as breaking numerous other school records. In 1999 Todd became the goalkeeper coach for Oneonta State University and then moved on to be an assistant coach with the College of Charleston Women's program. In 2003 he served as the goalkeeper coach for the UPENN's Mens/Women's teams. He has trained quite an impressive list of goalkeepers. They range from state, regional & national ODP goalkeepers to full professional goalkeepers. Todd is the founder of ONE on ONE Soccer and this is his 16th year in the business.
